In London we went to Covent Garden and saw lots of entertainers. Two entertainers were juggling batons – it was fun to watch ! It was magical looking at all the Christmas lights and decorations around Covent Garden. We also saw ice skaters on the ice rink at Canary Wharf and Somerset House.

Sun 16  Dec

Last week was very busy – the best bit was Mummy & Daddy coming to see me in the Christmas play at school.  I felt so proud and kept waving to them !  I enjoyed being a shepherd singing all the songs and saying; “isn’t he lovely” as the shepherds visited Joseph & Mary and the baby Jesus in the stable.

After the Christmas play some of the boys had a little go at playing rugby with a P.E. teacher.  We had to pick the ball up, run around cones and pass the ball to a partner.

We all enjoyed a big Christmas Party – we played a game of musical statues.  We dance and when the music stops we have to stand still – I was out quite quickly as I moved !  We had lots of party food and crispy crackles; yum yum !

We went for a walk to St. Mary’s church next to the school.  We watched them as they prepared for Christmas and we listened to the story about baby Jesus.

We had a magician called ‘Mr Magic’ – he made things disappear !

Mummy came into school on the last morning of Term – Christmas Activity morning.  We made lots of things; Christmas crackers, decorated pine cones, glitzy hanging lanterns etc.

Phew …. what a busy week !

Sun 9 Dec

Last week the Reception class walked through Great Houghton village to the post box to post our letters to Santa.

On Friday we all went to the Front Hall and sat with the Headmaster; Mr Barnes.  There was a letter by the fireplace from Santa to all the children in Reception class.  Mr Barnes read out the letter to us – Santa was saying ‘Thank you’ for all the letters !  This is a very busy time of the year for Santa.

All the pupils and teachers dressed up as ‘doctors, nurses and patients’ for a late ‘Children in Need’ Charity themed mufti day.  I dressed up as a Doctor – it was good fun !

The class is getting so excited about Christmas – the anticipation is unbearable !

Sun 2 Dec

The Topic last week was ‘The Snowman’.  We talked about the story of The Snowman.  We had fun playing in cotton wool, shaving foam, salt, cornflour and ice with glitter in.

We wrote a letter to Father Christmas.  I wrote ‘hot wheels’ and a Lego racing car.  The teachers had to tell Mummy what hot wheels were – a type of racing car !!

On Friday we had a Snowman Party – we wore hats and scarves and danced like the Snowman in the story.  We ate marshmallows – yum yum !

I opened the first window on the Advent calendar yesterday – it was a picture of a donkey.  I have one window to open each day until Christmas Eve – the day before Christmas Day !

We practised the play on stage for the first time !

When the shepherds visit Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus in the stable – I have to say “isn’t he lovely”. Mummy & Daddy have said I must say it loud so everyone can hear what I say.

The three keywords I have chosen to spell this week are: the, big, dog.

Sun 11 Nov

The Topic last week was ‘Fireworks’ so I was very busy at school making lots of sparkly glittery pictures.  In ICT I did a picture on the computer with lots of brightly coloured fireworks.  And In P.E. we were pretending to be all different kinds of fireworks and some made lots of loud noises !

We were told a story about a man called Guy Fawkes – he tried to blow up a castle !  He was a very naughty man.

Mummy & Daddy are ever so proud of me – I received a ‘Special Award’ certificate on Friday from my Reception teachers.  The Award is for doing so well with my reading and key words – I can read all 45 High frequency key words  (I think Mummy & Daddy are quite surprised at how quickly I am starting to read and learn all 45 key words)

This week I can choose 3 keywords and learn to spell the words – I have chosen: mum and dad.  I like putting letters together to make words on the fridge with the alphabet magnets and picking out the letters and putting them on a magnet board.

Half-Term I have had a very relaxing half-term spending lots of time with Mummy & Daddy. We have been to London two times visiting family & my London friends. And I have been to some Birthday Parties – having lots of fun !

Grandma & Grandad knew the ‘Fat Controller’ so we had a lovely chat with him. He was very friendly and greeted all the boys & girls as they boarded the train.

One of my London friends came up from London and we had a lovely day on their narrow boat. We met them at the Marina where they moor their boat and had a trip to Braunston – had a pub lunch there and came back. It was great fun travelling by boat on a canal.

The Topics this Term are based on stories, songs and rhymes. The Topic this week was ‘The Gingerbread Man’. On Friday we made some Gingerbread men – I enjoy cooking.

Yesterday Mummy & Daddy had a very special surprise for me.  We went to a ‘British Airways Engineering’ Open day at Heathrow.  We stood very close to a 'Boeing 747-400' Jumbo jet – the Rolls Royce engines are very very big and noisy !!  It was lovely to be able climb up the steps into the plane.

We walked all the way round the plane; kitchen areas, Economy class, World Traveller plus, Business and First class and sat in all the seats trying out the gadgets and headphones !!

The highlight of the plane tour was having the opportunity to sit in the cockpit – it was great pretending to be a co-pilot and pilot sitting in the seat and looking at all the different switches, buttons etc.  There were rather a lot of them !!

In the aircraft hanger we were able to wonder around and to see how aircraft seats are designed and tested, how a modern jet engine works and some people experienced a computer-generated walk through Terminal 5 and flight simulator of the new 'Boeing 787 Dreamliner'.

On the ground there were other British Airways aircrafts including a Concorde !

Thu 22 June 2006 I had two lovely surprises this week: Daddy came to pick me up at Nursery with Mummy. Daddy had the day off work yesterday – it was his Birthday. And Nanny and Grandad (Daddy’s Mummy and Daddy) came to see me at Nursery too ! They were here for a long weekend – we did lots of things like going to Stoke Bruene to see the canal boats and the locks.

Thu 15 June 2006

I had fun baking this week.  We made cookies and I brought it home and ate it with Mummy – it was delicious !

I made a lovely card for Daddy – it is Fathers Day on Sunday.  I can’t wait to show him the card - I feel ever so proud !

We had to take a Teddy Bear in this week – we are learning to perform our poems in Speech and Drama class for the end of term.  One of the poems is called Teddy Bear.

Thu 8 June 2006

It was great to be back at Nursery this week.  It was nice to see my Friends and Teachers again.  It has been really warm and sunny this week so we have been playing outside a lot – I like the space and freedom outdoors.

In our French lesson I was saying “my name is Tam” in French – how cool is that !

Thu 1 June 2006

Half – Term this week so there was no Nursery.

Thu 25 May 2006 We drew on T-shirts this week. My Teacher helped me draw a rocket and I helped draw the flames under the rocket – it looks great and I can’t wait to wear it as I love all things to do with space.

I spent some time in the Rising 4's room this week - it was great fun being with the big boys and girls.  I rather like it in this room - there is a Computer just like Daddy's at home.

I am really beginning to make friends in my class - we have lots of fun and take care of each other.  I like playing outdoors in the playground and in the garden – I like looking for sticks !

Thu 18 May 2006

We did Bubble painting which was great fun !  The Teacher said I will be able to bring it home to put up on the wall.

I had my first French lesson !  I am saying words like “Bonjour” to my Friends !

This week my Teacher gave me a nice shiny blue star sticker for being very helpful in tidying up.  Mummy and Daddy were ever so proud of me.

Thu 11 May 2006 We had to take a Teddy bear in for 'Speech and Drama' this week.  We sang songs with our Teddy bears – it was a giggle looking at all the different types of Teddy bears my Friends brought in.

We made our own musical instruments for our music session today – yogurts pots decorated with shiny bits.  Inside the pot are little beans so when you shake the pots it makes a sound !  It was fun shaking the pots with the Music Teacher.

Thu 4 May 2006

The Topic for the next couple of weeks is ‘Spring and mini beasts’.  We had lots of fun planting things in the garden, making a rockery and looking at little creatures like Tadpoles and Ladybirds.  It is warm and sunny at the moment so we are spending more time outside which is great !

Thu 27 Apr 2006 The Topic this week was 'growing'.  We had some tadpoles and we are going to watch them grow into frogs !  In the Music session today we had maracas and drums.  I like playing the drums - makes lots of noise !  I have some Prep to do - I have to draw a flower for next weeks Speech and Drama session.

Thu 20 Apr 2006

I really do feel like a Big Boy now - I am 3 years old !  Yippee - I went back to Nursery this week.  It is great to be going back and seeing my Nursery teachers and Friends.  I did miss going to Nursery.  We have new Girls and Boys in the Class - I no longer feel like the little one.

Thu 23 Mar 2006 This week was ever so exciting – the topic was ‘Easter’.  Mummy stayed with me in Nursery on Tuesday for the 'Easter Activity Morning'. It was great fun – painting Easter cards and making lots of mess ! I also made an Easter bonnet and an Easter cake with little Easter eggs. We all sat in a circle and ate our Easter cakes – it was very yummy and I had choccy all round my mouth !

The Nursery Staff gave me a Special Award – the Certificate is in recognition: 'displaying confidence in his music sessions'. My Nursery teacher said my name was mentioned in the School Assembly on Friday and everyone clapped their hands for me !

I love the music sessions on Thursdays.  Each week the Music teacher brings in a different instrument and we all take it turns to play with the instrument – I like all the different sounds the instruments make.

Mummy says it is the End of Term and I have done really well in settling into Nursery Life and both Mummy and Daddy are very proud of me.

I love going to Nursery and I have made lots of Friends and the teachers are really happy and smiley !

I am going to be 3 years old on Sunday – I am ever so excited !

Thu 16 Mar 2006 The Topic this week was 'the body'.  I had to take two photos into Nursery. One of me as a Baby and another as a Toddler ! We talked about growing from a Baby into a Toddler – it was a giggle looking at my Friends pictures as Babies !

I am getting excited as Mummy is coming to Nursery next Tuesday for the ‘Easter Activity Morning’. Mummy is going to help the Nursery Children make Easter cards – it will be fun ! There are going to be lots of other Mummy’s and Daddy’s helping with other activities; decorating Easter eggs, Easter chicks and lots of other things too !

Thu 9 Mar 2006

The Topic this week was 'food'.  We planted some cress seeds into some soil and did lots of things to do with food.  The Potato Painting was great fun and sticking pictures of food from magazines onto paper.  I enjoy doing creative things with my hands.

I really love going to Nursery – I do not like going home now when Mummy comes to collect me.  Mummy always seems to appear when I am having so much fun playing with my Friends.

Thu 2 Mar 2006 It is World Book Day today so everyone was dressed up in their favourite Children’s Character from a book. My favourite character is Postman Pat so I had my Postman Pat bag on my shoulders filled with letters and of course the black and white Cat called Jess. It was fun giving the letters to my Nursery teachers. I also took a Postman Pat book in to share with my Friends in Nursery. The teachers were dressed up too – they looked really good and funny !

The Topic this week was ‘textures’.  We had to take different kinds of fabric in and the teachers cut them all up and we have put them altogether to make a collage – great fun !

I have some Prep this week – it is some pictures of ‘The Owl and the Pussy-cat’.  I need to colour them in different colours; Pea-green, Sky-blue, Blood-red and Sunshine-yellow.  I am looking forward to doing some colouring with Mummy and Daddy over the weekend.

Mummy and Daddy said we are in March now – I am going to be 3 years old very soon !

Thu 23 Feb 2006 Yippee !!  I went back to Nursery this week - I really missed going.  I have settled into Nursery Life so quickly much to Mummy and Daddy's surprise !  Today, it was snowing and I was wrapped up really warm and we went outside to play on the little hill and we were chasing the snow flakes !

Thu 16 Feb 2006 No Nursery this week either - it was Half-Term.

Thu 9 Feb 2006

I had the Flu this week.  I felt very really poorly - it was getting me down.  I missed going to Nursery to see my Friends and the Nursery teachers.

Thu 2 Feb 2006 I love going to Nursery so much - it is the best thing ever.  Today I did not want to go home - I kept saying to Mummy when She collected me "I want to stay here".  I kept repeating it a few times to see if She got the hint but we had to go home.  I can't wait to come to Nursery more often !  I am making some Friends and it is great playing altogether.

I am getting really excited !  I will be 3 years old NEXT MONTH !!!!  I am going to be such a Big Boy !

Thu 26 Jan 2006 As soon as I put my Uniform on it fills me with excitement !  I can't wait to get in there - I go straight to the Play area  (they have something new each time)  This week I was too excited and did not even notice Mummy was trying to say Goodbye to me.  I am staying for Lunch now - the food is really tasty.   I am so happy in Nursery and I can't wait until Daddy gets home from work to tell him about all the things I did.

Thu 19 Jan 2006 I have a funny feeling I am going to enjoy Nursery Life !  The teachers are ever so gentle.  Today, we did a lot of sticking – different materials onto coloured paper.  The teacher has displayed it on the wall in the Class – isn’t that great !  The Music teacher comes to the Nursery on Thursday mornings and we sing lots of songs – I like singing.  I love playing outside.  There is a little log cabin - it is fun playing and running around.  Again, I did not feel the need to cry this week.  I think Mummy and Daddy are really impressed !

Thu 12 Jan 2006 Today was my third morning - I am going on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the moment.  I like going to Nursery - I didn't feel the need to cry this week !  (I think Mummy and Daddy are actually very surprised how well I am taking to Nursery Life but I know I am a Big Boy !)  I love wearing my Uniform - I feel so proud !  There are so many different things to do there - it is ever so exciting !  I think I am going to enjoy my New Adventures in Nursery.

Thu 5 Jan 2006 My First Morning at Nursery !  I am in the Rising 3's room.  I didn't know what to expect but the Nursery teachers were ever so kind and looked after me well.  Mummy said She had to pop out so I was left all by myself - I did cry for a bit but was very pleased when She came back.  I am sure I will get the hang of this.  Whilst Mummy was away I did a Painting - I felt so proud showing Mummy my picture and could not wait to show Daddy when he got home from work.  I feel like a Big Boy now !!
